“Open the door! Open the door!”

Yang Hu arrived at Cheng Xiangru’s doorstep, repeatedly kicking the door with force.

The broken door panel, its lock already smashed, wobbled precariously. If Cheng Xiangru hadn’t been bracing it with all his strength from inside, the gang outside would have surely broken in by now.

Cheng Xiangru knew he couldn’t hold out much longer, but that didn’t matter. As long as he could hold on until Boss Zhou and his men arrived to pick him and his sister up, they might just escape this torment.

He didn’t care about himself; he had grown used to such suffering. His only fear was that his sister might be harmed.

Yang Hu, his face swollen and fierce, cursed and shouted, “If you’ve got the guts to smash my window, then open the door! Don’t hide inside in silence—I know you’re home!”

“I didn’t smash your window!” Cheng Xiangru replied firmly, even as he noticed Yang Hu had stopped kicking. He kept his back pressed against the door with unwavering determination.

“Still playing innocent? Who else could it be? Fine! You don’t want to open the door? Just wait…”

Outside, the sounds of restless footsteps grew louder—perhaps those scoundrels were searching for tools to break the door.

Cheng Xiangru anxiously gestured to his sister, signaling her to find a place to hide.

Cheng Yimo’s eyes were red-rimmed with tears. She was worried for her brother but obediently ran toward the back door, intending to hide in the backyard.

But soon, piercing screams and cries came from the backyard.

Cheng Xiangru’s face drained of color. He rushed to the back door and was horrified to see two of Yang Hu’s henchmen had climbed over the low wall. One was pinning Cheng Yimo to the ground while the other tried to pull down her pants.

“I’ll kill you bastards!” Cheng Xiangru’s eyes instantly reddened with rage. He grabbed a broken brick and lunged forward, smashing one of them to the ground with a heavy thud.

The other henchman panicked, releasing Cheng Yimo and retreating just in time to avoid the brick Cheng Xiangru hurled at him.

Cheng Xiangru pulled his sister behind him, clutching the brick tightly as he slowly retreated toward the corner of the wall.

Yang Hu and his gang burst through the door, cursing loudly, and entered the backyard. They formed a semicircle, trapping the siblings against the wall.

“Damn, Erzhu, did you get your head cracked open?” one jeered.

“That bastard attacked me! I’m gonna kill him!”

The man who had been knocked down by Cheng Xiangru was bleeding heavily, clearly badly injured.

Yang Hu grinned, revealing a mouth of yellowed teeth, and squinted as he appraised Cheng Yimo.

The little girl was no more than seven or eight years old, her cheeks chubby and rosy, her eyes round and sparkling—a natural beauty in the making.

“You little bastard. First you smash my window at night, then you beat Erzhu until his head’s busted. You can’t pay for that, can you? Here’s your choice: either let your sister show us if the tomb raider’s daughter has an asshole, or we cripple your legs…”

“SpI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
