Chapter 10: She is a Princess, What Is There to Fear? She Has Money to Spare.
Moqi Haoyu could never understand why she did these things. For the first time, his clear, autumn-moon eyes were clouded with bewilderment. Nevertheless, he was still deeply nauseated by her words. Since they had reached a consensus last night, he was, in name at least, her husband; couldn’t she be a little gentler with him?
He sighed softly. Oh well, it was all just an act anyway.
"Don't sigh, my beauty. Are you sad and disappointed because I didn't cherish you enough last night?" She leaned in close, radiating charm, her eyes and brows brimming with a unique allure—provided, of course, that one ignored the face crisscrossed with dark red splotches.
"You!!!" Moqi Haoyu was usually a man of few words and rarely argued with anyone. He struggled to weigh his thoughts, trying to find a response that would extinguish her intentions while still reflecting his refined upbringing. But plans never kept pace with change; Yun Xiange’s next sentence completely shattered his composure.
"Don't be in such a rush. Since we didn't have time last night, let's make up for it now. Handsome, here I come!" The young woman pursed her lips and leaned forward. Goodness, all she managed to kiss this time was the hem of his robe.
"In your dreams." Furious, he tried to flick his sleeves and storm off. She suddenly grabbed his sleeve, brazenly asking, "Is there still a chance once the dream is over?"
The entire morning, Yun Xiange felt incredibly stifled.
Xiangcao was laughing, and Dieyi was laughing too. Even if the other servants didn't dare to laugh out loud due to the Princess’s former tyranny, they were likely snickering in their hearts.
Yun Xiange frowned. "What exactly are you all laughing at?"
"Princess, your eyes are so swollen, they look like a panda's," Dieyi said with a grin.
"Indeed, indeed. They were dark enough already, and now they're even darker." Yun Xiange gritted her teeth and set down her spoon, unable to even finish her porridge. Who had she offended? Ever since she had transmigrated, she had told herself not to be as cold as she once was. This life was her rebirth; she wanted to wander the world recklessly, live life to the fullest, be her most authentic self, and live with sincerity and spontaneity!
Who knew she would run into such an ungrateful wretch? He had just called her a hooligan and even punched her. Forget it; she would leave him to his own devices from now on. She was done dealing with him.
Just as she was thinking this, a servant came to report that Princess Li Goule requested an audience.
"Princess, leave it to Xiangcao. This time, I’ll beat her half-crippled so she’ll never dare step foot in the Princess’s estate again for the rest of her life." Xiangcao gripped her sword, looking ready to summon the guards to start a brawl. Yun Xiange thought carefully, but the memories of her predecessor were too fragmented and episodic; she truly couldn't recall what kind of history she had with this Princess.
"Xiangcao, what connection does this Li Goule have to me?"
"What connection? Princess, have you forgotten? You lost 500,000 taels to Li Goule at the gambling house, and today is the final deadline for repayment." Xiangcao was anxious. If she didn't go out to stop her, what would happen if Li Goule came in and started smashing things? Li Goule was spoiled rotten by Prince Li and had always run rampant in the capital. She and the Princess even shared a nickname: The Two Vermin of the Capital.
Oh. So she was here to collect a debt. Yun Xiange calmly continued drinking her porridge and waved her hand like a tycoon. "It's fine, let her in." She was a princess, what was there to fear? She had plenty of money.
As the steward, Xiangcao was even more frantic. "Princess! There are only 200,000 taels left in the estate. You’ve long since gambled away all the estate's funds; what are you going to pay her with?"
