After Li Yu finished his meal, Huang Xiu was already at the table in the living room, working on her homework.

Li Yu, who had eaten later, tidied up the table briefly, took the bowls and chopsticks into the kitchen, and by the time the water stopped running there, Huang Xiu had completed an entire test paper.

Li Yu then sat beside Huang Xiu, correcting the neat handwriting on her test.

Originally, when Li Yu took a break from school and stayed home, he hadn’t even had two days of being a couch potato before Huang Xiu’s mother came over, tearfully lamenting her daughter’s declining grades. Li Yu’s own mother, ever the fixer, took charge immediately.

In her words: “That useless son of mine has nothing better to do anyway—having him at home just annoys me.”

And so, Li Yu was sent to tutor homework.

Huang Xiu worked quickly; as a student in an elite class at a top school, she could handle most of her assignments perfectly.

Li Yu’s role was more of the cherry on top.

After eleven o'clock, Li Yu stretched, pointed out and corrected a few mistakes on the papers, then retired to his room.

“System, is the passage between the two worlds real-time?” Li Yu sprawled across his bed.

[Yes, Host. All you need is a thought to freely traverse between the two worlds.]

This was important. If there was some casting delay, and he didn’t account for it, he could easily end up in danger.

“System, can I bring things to the other world?”

[Yes.]

Li Yu nodded, beginning to analyze his current situation.

He didn’t know why the system had chosen him, but the toilet paper that appeared out of thin air in the restroom and the effect of the Purification Pill he’d swallowed both proved this was no hallucination.

His mind was sound, so the other world must truly exist.

In that case, the right to enter this alternate world had immense potential.

Even if the other world didn’t have the items he wanted, at the very least, he could treat it as his own storage space—he could bring things over and store them at will.

Moreover, with the ability to travel freely between worlds at a thought, wasn’t this the ultimate life-saving trump card?

At a moment’s notice, he could teleport away from danger, hide out in the other world, and return once the coast was clear.

At the thought, Li Yu let out a wicked chuckle.

The night passed uneventfully.

When Li Yu got up, Huang Xiu had already left for school, but there was still some breakfast on the table. He took a few bites, got dressed, grabbed his keys, and headed out.

He left with the remaining breakfast, but halfway along, they parted ways—the breakfast making its own way to the trash bin.

He hailed a taxi and headed straight for a military surplus store he’d looked up the night before.

“What can I get you, young man?” The proprietor was an elderly man, glancing up at Li Yu before returning his attention to whatever he was tinkering with.

Li Yu glanced around the shop. Most of the goods looked like knock-offs, unlikely to be genuine, but he was still surprised by the sheer variety of tools crammed into the small space.

Knock-offs weren’t all bad—sometimes the quality control was better than the genuine article. Variety was what mattered most.

Based on his rough planning from the previous night, Li Yu listed what he wanted: “Abrasion-resistant gloves, a helmet, clothes and shoes—preferably stab-resistant.”

“Oh, and do you have a stun baton? Also a machete—do you carry those?”

Hearing this, the proprietor peered at Li Yu over his reading glasses. “Mind if I ask, what exactly are you planning, young man?”

“Wilderness exploration!” Li Yu replied with perfect confidence.

“You’re obviously a rookie. No one’s guiding you?” the old man asked.

“What makes you say that?” Li Yu arched an eyebrow.

He’d chosen these items based on standard wilderness survival lists. Granted, his destination might be a bit out of the ordinary, but surely nothing was amiss.

The proprietor bent down and hauled out a box over a meter long from under the counter. “Everything you’re after is in here—including things you haven’t thought of.”

Curious, Li Yu examined the sealed box.

The old man tapped the box and explained, “Inside is a full set of professional outdoor survival gear. Besides the boots, helmet, clothes, and gloves you wanted, there’s also a multi-purpose flashlight, a tactical entrenching tool, a satellite GPS navigator—not top of the line, but for an amateur like you, it’s more than enough for a stroll in the woods.”

“You’re a real pro, boss. How much?” Li Yu didn’t care about the man’s condescension.

How could he reveal to an ordinary man that he was about to conquer a whole new world?

Letting everyone know, only to fall flat in another world, would be too humiliating.

“Seven thousand for the full set, non-negotiable.”

Li Yu pulled out his phone—luckily, he still had a ten-thousand yuan reserve. “I’ll transfer it to you.”

“Thank you for your patronage.” The proprietor, hearing the payment notification, removed his glasses, his expression making it clear Li Yu should leave now that he’d completed his purchase.

The box was a bit heavy, but thanks to the Purification Pill, Li Yu’s physique had improved considerably. He hefted it easily, caught a taxi, and was off.

Back at his place, Li Yu put on the entire outfit, even taking out a scuba oxygen tank before he took a deep breath.

Here goes…

Li Yu vanished from his room. The next moment, he reappeared, wide-eyed with shock.

Damn, what was that pale thing?

It looked suspiciously like the back of a human body.

After a long while, Li Yu snapped out of his stupor, tossed aside the oxygen tank, stripped off his climbing gear, and hesitated for a good while before silently muttering to himself.

“Here goes.”

Whoosh.

In the blink of an eye, Li Yu disappeared from the room and then reappeared again seconds later.

He muttered, “Damn, that was too much—forgot to put on clothes.”

Fishing out his everyday attire from the pile of discarded gear, Li Yu made absolutely sure he was ready this time before heading for the other world.

There was no sensation of traveling through realms, no dazzling passage of light and shadow. With a mere thought, he found himself in a strange place.

Cautiously, Li Yu gripped his multi-purpose flashlight, which could double as a stun baton.

“Good, that pale backside is gone,” he exhaled, muttering to himself.

He was now in a room made of planks, filled with a strange odor. From the gaps in the wood, it was obvious this was an outdated outhouse.

Li Yu felt a bit helpless.

He’d considered that he might arrive in a hellish landscape or a wilderness teeming with monsters. He’d even brought an oxygen tank, prepared for anything.

Never had he imagined that, having gained the system in a restroom, his first trip to another world would land him in an outhouse—and, worse still, one that was occupied.

Was he fated to be bound to toilets?

He surveyed his surroundings. The previous occupant had left, and Li Yu breathed a sigh of relief. The first time, he’d been so startled by the scene that he’d scrambled back to his room in a panic.

Would staring at someone’s backside give him a sty?

As he edged toward the door, lost in thought, the tightly closed wooden door was suddenly flung open.

“Damn, here goes!”

In a panic, Li Yu thought the command and instantly returned to his own room.

Sitting on his bed, he muttered to himself, “I’ll explore at night—easier to keep things quiet.”

He took out his phone, hesitated, then searched online: “What should you do if you accidentally enter the wrong stall in the women’s restroom? Urgent!”
