After making up the bed, Xing Haotian finally transferred Wei Zi over. The ordeal left her unconscious, which caused Xing Haotian a great deal of anxiety.

Fortunately, Xue Fengshuo arrived with his team shortly after.

"This is Physician Zhao, my current assistant," Xue Fengshuo introduced his companion. The physician was about twenty-four or twenty-five, an age that suggested she had recently graduated as a doctor from the medical academy. To be chosen as Xue Fengshuo’s assistant, she must have possessed exceptional professional knowledge.

"Greetings, General Xing. It is a pleasure to meet you; you are the general I admire most!" Zhao Qian said with a hint of excitement.

Xing Haotian, however, showed little enthusiasm. He nodded and said, "Follow me." He led the two upstairs into the bedroom, instinctively lowering his voice. Xue Fengshuo and Zhao Qian, following behind, also became somewhat cautious. They were truly curious about who this person was to warrant such care from Xing Haotian.

They soon arrived at the bedroom, looking at the exquisitely beautiful young woman lying on the Mysterious Ice Jade bed.

"Gasp!" Xue Fengshuo drew a sharp breath. He had never expected to find a woman in Xing Haotian’s bedroom—let alone such a stunning young girl. For years, Xing Haotian had been free of any scandals. Although Xue Fengshuo was the dean of the hospital, he acted primarily as Xing Haotian’s personal physician and was the person most familiar with his condition. Seeing a young girl suddenly occupying Xing Haotian’s private quarters led him to many conclusions.

Unlike Ming Zeyu’s curiosity, he asked almost instinctively, "General Xing, is this woman, perhaps..."

"Yes," Xing Haotian replied firmly. "I will explain the details later. Please examine her; she passed out after a fight."

Although Xue Fengshuo had many questions, he pushed his curiosity aside and stepped forward to examine Wei Zi. Unlike physicians at the capital’s best hospitals, most physicians at the military district hospital were Awakeners who had specifically studied healing techniques, which manifested through the water, light, or wood elements. Xue Fengshuo was a Wood-element practitioner.

Rather than using medical devices, he reached out his hand, and a green glow brimming with life force enveloped Wei Zi, causing mysterious runes to flicker into existence.

Ten seconds later, Xue Fengshuo withdrew his hand and said, "She is simply exhausted from overexerting her spiritual energy. Injecting some Spirit Recovery Fluid will suffice." In cases of spiritual energy overexertion, it was counterproductive to use harsh drugs to force a recovery; the most effective method was to inject Spirit Recovery Fluid to slowly replenish her internal energy.

Xing Haotian finally relaxed. That was good!

"Proceed with the injection. Use the best Spirit Recovery Fluid available," Xing Haotian ordered.

"Understood. Zhao, administer some diluted Heavenly Glue Fluid to the young lady. General Xing, let me examine you as well," Xue Fengshuo suggested.

"Very well. Let’s go to the study." Xing Haotian had things he needed to discuss with him.

In the study, Xing Haotian did not hide the events of the day. He was usually reserved with others, but he was not one to hide from medical necessity, especially given Wei Zi’s condition. Xue Fengshuo was a trusted associate—otherwise, he would not have been his personal physician. Xue Fengshuo was clearly taken aback by how much had transpired in just one day.

Xue Fengshuo conducted a comprehensive check-up on Xing Haotian using the specialized testing equipment kept in the study, which had been installed specifically to monitor the fire toxin that had plagued Xing Haotian for years.

"The fire toxin in your blood has vanished, but your body remains hotter than the average person’s. It is very likely that the toxin will regenerate," Xue Fengshuo noted while observing the test results.

"It will regenerate?" Xing Haotian frowned, clearly dissatisfied with this outcome.

"Yes, but the rate of regeneration is extremely slow. It will likely take ten years to reach the level it was at before. In other words, you are safe for the time being," Xue Fengshuo said with a relieved smile, happy to see Xing Haotian’s recovery. "Furthermore, the heat is not uncontrollable. Even if the incident that occurred today were to happen just once a month, the fire toxin would be automatically purged. And now, it no longer poses a threat to the lives of others; even if it hadn't been that young lady, an ordinary woman could withstand it," he added with a playful, uncharacteristic wink.

Xing Haotian, however, showed no interest in joking. He said sternly, "The only woman in my life will be Wei Zi."

Xue Fengshuo fell silent, embarrassed, and stopped his teasing. In his heart, he sighed; Xing Haotian was far too disciplined. While soldiers were expected to be loyal and committed, very few men today could actually live up to such a standard. Because of this accident, Xing Haotian had become deeply involved. He only wondered if that woman was worthy of the Huatian Kingdom’s youngest general.

As they left the study, both lost in their own thoughts, they approached the bedroom door and heard voices coming from inside.

After Xing Haotian and Xue Fengshuo had left, Zhao Qian had administered the Heavenly Glue Fluid. It was the finest Spirit Recovery Fluid available, immensely valuable and highly effective. Within five minutes of the drip starting, Wei Zi had regained consciousness. Truth be told, she was not unfamiliar with this room; in her past life, she had also woken up in this very military residence of Xing Haotian’s.

This was a place countless women dreamed of, yet for her, it was the stuff of nightmares.

"You're awake. How do you feel?" Zhao Qian asked upon seeing Wei Zi open her eyes.

"I'm fine," Wei Zi replied. She tried to sit up, but as soon as she moved her arm, Zhao Qian held her down. "Don't move. You are on a drip of Spirit Recovery Fluid. This is Heavenly Glue Fluid; even diluted, it is incredibly precious."

"Oh," Wei Zi lay back down, looking at the liquid being injected into her arm. Heavenly Glue Fluid—this was a specialized military supply!

"Say, what is your relationship with General Xing? How did you end up in his home?" Zhao Qian asked, her brows arched with curiosity—and a heavy dose of suspicion.

Wei Zi glanced at Zhao Qian, a hint of sarcasm touching her lips. "What do you think our relationship is?"

"You look so young. Could you be the General’s younger sister? But I’ve never heard of him having a sister; isn't he an orphan? Could you be a cousin?" Zhao Qian mused.

"Hmm," Wei Zi grunted, not wanting to talk, but Zhao Qian seemed quite excited.

"Are you really his cousin? Oh my, you are so lucky to have such a handsome cousin! But you are also quite unfortunate to be his relative. He is General Xing! Which woman wouldn't want to be with him, even just for a one-night stand?" Zhao Qian sighed.

"Pfft!" Wei Zi couldn't help but sneer. "A one-night stand? Are you sure? You're a physician; you should know that General Xing suffers from fire toxin. Any woman who spends the night with him will either die or be left ruined. Do you want to sacrifice yourself for him? Even if you did, he wouldn't remember you, and by then, you’d be nothing but a disfigured wretch covered in blisters."
