Chapter 34: When I Bloom, a Hundred Flowers Die!
“Exactly! Did you really come here empty-handed?” He Ying cried dramatically.
“My husband went all the way abroad to buy an extraordinarily precious flower, intending to present it to Stephen as a gift! When the time comes, the role of leading lady should be mine!” He Ying declared with absolute confidence.
She was consumed by jealousy toward Fan Mengxue. Now that she finally had a chance to surpass her, she was naturally delighted.
Dong Tiancheng added with an ingratiating smile, “Miss Fan, if you haven’t brought a gift, I could certainly help you. But, well…” He let out a suggestive chuckle.
That chuckle conveyed everything he meant.
Fan Mengxue’s face turned cold. “No need.”
With that, she turned and walked away.
Xue An glanced at He Ying, then at Dong Tiancheng, and gave a faint smile.
“Daddy, what are you laughing at?” Xue Xiang asked.
“Oh, nothing. I was just thinking that if a short winter melon ever became a spirit, it would probably look something like that.”
Dong Tiancheng’s face instantly turned green. His height had always been his sore spot, and this man actually dared to mock him?
Dong Tiancheng was just about to explode when Xue An had already led his two daughters away.
Staring darkly at Xue An’s back, Dong Tiancheng ground his teeth in secret.
Just wait. I’ll make you pay.
At the center of the nursery stood several glasshouses. By the time Xue An, Fan Mengxue, and the others arrived, many people had already gathered inside.
Judging by their immaculate suits, none of them were ordinary.
Yet at that moment, every one of them stood silently to the side, as though afraid to make a sound.
Among them, a golden-haired, blue-eyed foreigner was especially conspicuous.
That man was Stephen.
His face was filled with expectation, as though he were waiting for something.
At last, the little door of the glasshouse opened, and a graceful figure slowly emerged.
At first sight, there was only one word to describe the woman.
She was more beautiful and radiant than a garden in full bloom.
The moment Stephen saw her, the excitement on his face intensified.
“Master Wei!”
“Master Wei, you’ve finally arrived!”
Everyone greeted her in turn.
Master Wei gave a slight nod, then elegantly lifted the cloth covering the table.
Beneath it was a flower of nine colors.
Everyone seemed to stop breathing.
Stephen’s eyes shone brightly.
It was a single flower, yet it bloomed in nine different colors.
Each blossom possessed a different form, and every one was breathtakingly beautiful.

“Master Wei, I’ll take this one!” Stephen hurriedly said.
Master Wei gently shook her head. “This flower is not for sale.”
Stephen was stunned. “Why not?”
Master Wei replied calmly, “Only the person who can explain the meaning of this flower is worthy of possessing it.”
The question left everyone exchanging bewildered glances.
Then several people began eager attempts to answer.
Ever since the young woman known as Wei had come to this obscure nursery three years earlier, the place had risen to fame.
Many people traveled from afar, hoping only to obtain a rare plant from her.
Yet one person after another offered their interpretations, and Master Wei merely shook her head.
Just then, Dong Tiancheng said with a smile, “This gentleman claims to possess unparalleled knowledge of flowers, plants, and trees. Why not let him explain it now that you’ve arrived?”
His words drew everyone’s attention toward Xue An.
Master Wei noticed him as well, but her brows furrowed slightly.
Unparalleled knowledge of every flower and plant?
Even she would not dare make such a claim.
He was probably just another boastful wastrel.
A smug smile appeared at the corner of Dong Tiancheng’s mouth.
Once Xue An made a fool of himself in public, he would surely offend Master Wei—and, by extension, Stephen.
Then Fan Mengxue’s chance at the leading role would be over.
Everything had been carefully planned by Dong Tiancheng.
But just as he was basking in his triumph, Xue An gave a faint smile.
“Though I never said that myself… what he said is not entirely wrong. I know every plant beneath the heavens.”
His words caused an uproar.
Many people looked at Xue An with contempt.
Stephen in particular wore an expression of disdain.
During his time in Europe, he had devoted himself to the study of flowers and plants and could be considered an expert in horticulture.
Even he would never claim to know everything.
Yet this man actually said he understood all of it?
What a joke.
Master Wei’s brows drew together slightly.
“Sir, may I ask your name?”
“My daddy’s name is Xue An! My daddy is amazing!” Xue Xiang exclaimed before he could answer.
The child’s soft, childish voice sent many people into loud laughter.
Dong Tiancheng and He Ying laughed the hardest of all.
Xue An merely stood there proudly, his expression unchanged. Only after the laughter gradually subsided did he calmly say, “Your flower is called Forgetting Passion.”
The moment those words were spoken, Master Wei’s expression changed dramatically.
At once, everyone began to fall silent.

Xue An continued, “It embodies the full extent of human artistry. Nine kinds of ultimate beauty are gathered into a single bloom, yet not one green leaf accompanies it. That loneliness exists alongside the flower, and its final destination will be the soil. Therefore, it is called Forgetting Passion.”
Dong Tiancheng was the first to sneer. “What an overly sentimental performance…”
But his mockery did not continue, because he witnessed an astonishing sight.
Master Wei, who had always treated people with indifference, had actually walked up to Xue An and bowed deeply.
“Today, I finally know that there is someone in this world who truly understands it.”
The scene left everyone dumbfounded.
Those who had just mocked Xue An were especially ashamed, wishing they could sink into the ground.
Only Stephen looked displeased.
During the few days he had spent there, he had already become deeply fascinated by this extraordinary woman.
Naturally, he did not want to see Master Wei show such respect toward Xue An.
“If all he can do is talk, how can he claim to possess unparalleled knowledge of plants?” Stephen said coldly.
Dong Tiancheng immediately joined in. “Exactly! Director Stephen is absolutely right. Anyone can boast with their mouth. If that alone counts as knowing everything, then the whole thing is ridiculous!”
With that, Dong Tiancheng proudly opened the case he had brought with him.
“Everyone, take a look. This is a rare treasure I purchased at great expense!”
Stephen was a devoted flower enthusiast. The instant he saw the flower, black as ink, he became somewhat entranced.
Many others also joined in condemning Xue An.
After all, this man had stolen the spotlight from them the moment he arrived, naturally provoking their envy and resentment.
Xue An simply stood there calmly, waiting for the voices to gradually die down.
Only then did he lower his head and ask Xue Xiang and Xue Nian, “Would you two like to watch Daddy perform a magic trick?”
“Yes!”
“Very well! Daddy will show you a truly amazing trick!”
As he spoke, Xue An extended his hand.
Dong Tiancheng mocked him. “What? Are you planning to shake hands—”
He never finished the sentence.
He had just witnessed a scene so astonishing that it left him speechless.
In the palm of Xue An’s hand, a tiny seed began to take root and sprout. It grew at incredible speed, and in the blink of an eye, it had become a flower bud on the verge of blooming.
The sight made many people wonder whether their eyes were deceiving them.
But it was not over yet.
Xue An recited softly, “When I bloom, a hundred flowers die!”
Almost instantly, the black lotus that had been blooming so magnificently withered away.
At nearly the same moment, every flower in bloom throughout the entire nursery withered as well.
And the flower in his palm slowly unfolded its petals.
It was so beautiful that it seemed unreal.
