Chapter 14: That Comes at a Different Price
Su Qingli wagged her finger. “Nonono, that’s a separate price.”
Di Yunshen shook his head helplessly. “Alright, go have fun. I’m heading to the office. Call me if you need anything.”
“Hey! Wait for me.”
“Hm?”
“Do you remember a few days ago I told you someone with the surname Bai wanted to set me up on a blind date?”
“Yeah. Has he arrived?”
Su Qingli nodded. “He’s almost at your company.”
“Let’s go, then.”
Su Qingli swaggered after him, now quite familiar with sliding into the passenger seat.
On the road, as usual, Su Qingli chattered non-stop.
“Di Yunshen, everyone says you’re not talkative and have a bad temper.”
Di Yunshen didn’t bother explaining and countered, “What do you think?”
“Lies.”
“Di Yunshen, they also say you’re unfeeling, ruthless, and intolerant of any flaws.”
Before Di Yunshen could reply, Su Qingli shook her head. “Completely untrue!”
“Why does the internet always say the opposite? They even claim you’re vicious!”
“Oh! And someone said you’ve never been in a relationship, never even held a woman’s hand. That can’t be true either.”
Di Yunshen suddenly turned his head and said seriously, “That’s true, actually.”
“……”
Su Qingli looked at him with a peculiar expression, half believing, half doubting, then finally scoffed disdainfully.
They parked in the garage. Di Yunshen glanced at the people by the parking spot ahead. “The Bai you mentioned—could it be Bai Xuan?”
“How did you know?”
Di Yunshen lifted his chin, and Su Qingli followed his gaze. Sure enough, there was a man in blindingly white clothes!
“Wow, he’s dressed whiter than wall plaster!”
Di Yunshen pressed the car horn twice, and Bai Xuan turned around.
“Well, President Di, long time no see.”
“Mm. So? Did you come this time for a blind date with my wife?”
Bai Xuan: “……”
Su Qingli ran over to look at Bai Xuan’s car, then asked with a touch of disdain, “Do you have some kind of obsession with white?”
Bai Xuan: “……”
He had barely arrived and was already left speechless by this couple’s banter!
“Di Yunshen, what do you think of his car?”
Di Yunshen glanced over and replied coolly, “Trash.”
Bai Xuan: “???”
He rushed over to his car in shock. “Come on, man, really look at it—how can you call this trash?! Maybe… just take another look?”
Di Yunshen, giving him some face, actually studied it for a moment. Under Bai Xuan’s hopeful gaze, he finally offered, “Passable.”
Bai Xuan felt like he was about to cough up blood—his temples throbbed with rage.
“Don’t you have any decent cars at home? Or did you go bankrupt?”
That last comment nearly sent Bai Xuan’s soul flying!
“Di Yunshen!”
Su Qingli patted the car beside her. “I think this car is pretty good.”
Hearing this, Bai Xuan immediately suppressed his anger and hurried over, fawning, “Right? Miss Su, you have great taste!”
“So… why not give it to me?”
Bai Xuan’s smile instantly vanished.
“If you want to date me, you should at least make a gesture, right? If you don’t want to give me the car, fine, but I can’t be unfair. I’ll read your fortune—let me see how long you’ll live, and whether you’ll have any major disasters in the next three years!”
“Stop! Stop, stop, stop! I’ll give it to you!” Bai Xuan was terrified that she’d predict some calamity for him out of nowhere.
Su Qingli looked at the car keys. “How about I take you both for a spin?”
Di Yunshen coughed. “Weren’t you two supposed to meet? I’ll give you some space. Go ahead, the two of you.”
Originally, Bai Xuan was going to refuse, but hearing this, he grinned. “Di Yunshen, so you have days like this too? Hmph, just wait to be divorced tomorrow! Miss Su and I are a better match.”
Di Yunshen only gestured for him to get in the car.
The engine roared to life. To be fair, the start was pretty good—one tap of the gas and it shot forward!
Di Yunshen followed behind on his motorcycle.
Inside the car, Su Qingli was completely in her element; the music was pounding, the convertible top was down, the sea breeze was blowing, and you could even smell the salty tang of the ocean.
“Oh yeah!”
Su Qingli threw both hands in the air, dancing along to the music. Bai Xuan was just as hyped, both of them waving their hands.
Suddenly, the car jolted.
“Why aren’t you holding the steering wheel? Watch the road! There’s a bamboo grove ahead!!”
Su Qingli was utterly bewildered—did she really need to watch the road? Or even hold the wheel? She looked ahead; they were about to crash into the bamboo grove! The bamboo was tall and thick, with underbrush everywhere—God knows what would happen if they barreled in!
“Ah! What do we do? What do we do?”
“Brake! Hit the brakes!”
“Which one is the brake? This?”
“Vroom!”
Su Qingli stomped on the gas. The speedometer shot to the max!
Just as they were about to plunge into the grove, a black motorcycle sped by. The rider leaned over, yanked Su Qingli out of the driver’s seat, and tossed her onto the back of his bike.
Still shaken, Su Qingli clung tightly to Di Yunshen’s waist.
Bai Xuan immediately jumped over to the driver’s seat, slammed on the brakes, and managed to stop the car—but not before it crashed into the bamboo grove…
“Ah! Di Yunshen, you did that on purpose!”
“Di Yunshen! Why didn’t you catch me just now?”
Di Yunshen: “???”
