Xin Lang’s teeth ached with frustration. If not for his concern for Hong Xiu, he’d have been sorely tempted to push Hu Qingqing down and simply “sleep” with her right there.

“Hmph! I’m not washing up anymore!” Xin Lang turned and strode into his bedroom, calling out to Hu Qingqing in the living room, “Remember to lock the door when you leave. If anything goes missing, I’ll hold you responsible!”

Though Hu Qingqing acted bold, it was all a front. Realizing she couldn’t extract any juicy details about his relationship with Murong Yueyin, she had no choice but to leave Xin Lang’s room.

Xin Lang didn’t actually go to sleep. After making sure Hu Qingqing had left, he got up and began his daily tasks for the Level-Up Device—after all, those ten experience points a day were not to be missed.

The following day, after a long night of “training” at Orchid Lane, Fatty Gu returned to the Martial Arts Academy looking refreshed. He took Xin Lang’s identification badge and went from battle hall to battle hall, signing him up for challenge matches.

During his breaks between official challenge matches, Xin Lang also challenged the rotating champions of the battle halls. However, Hong King Kong had started copying Xin Lang’s approach and was challenging the rotating champions too.

Though Hong King Kong didn’t win as easily as Xin Lang, he still managed to defeat seven rotating champions by noon. The remaining thirteen, however, had already fallen to Xin Lang, who also participated in four regular matches, racking up a total of seventeen points that morning.

Judging by the current scores, Hong King Kong’s chances of surpassing Xin Lang were slim to none. Still, he stubbornly refused to give up before the very end.

That afternoon, Hong King Kong signed up for many regular matches but only managed to compete in three. In contrast, Xin Lang had better luck, darting between the battle halls and managing to take part in seven matches in one afternoon, earning another twenty points. By the end of the day, his two-day total had reached forty-nine points.

“Boss, you made it onto the Academy’s Rising Stars List!” Fatty Gu exclaimed over dinner, waving a freshly purchased booklet at Xin Lang.

“Rising Stars List? What’s that?”

Xin Lang had read the “Annals of the Martial Arts Academy” and knew about the Gold and Silver Rankings, but he’d never heard of any Rising Stars List.

Fatty Gu explained, “The Rising Stars List features the Academy’s most talked-about figures. Boss, not only did you make the list, you’re in the top ten!”

Xin Lang asked, “Is there any benefit to being on this list?”

“Of course!”

“What kind of benefit?”

Fatty Gu grinned, “Fame, obviously! Makes it easier to pick up girls!” He looked at Xin Lang with undisguised envy.

“Go die, how’s that a benefit?” Xin Lang retorted.

“Damn, Boss, you’re incredible! When did you manage to win over the school beauties—and both at once!” Fatty Gu stared at the Academy’s “Rising Stars List,” reading aloud, “The two school beauties, Murong Yueyin and Hu Qingqing, fought over him in the cafeteria! At night, beauty Hu Qingqing stayed in dorm 2012! Boss, you’re amazing—first day and you’ve already slept with a school belle. You’re truly my idol when it comes to romance!”

Xin Lang’s forehead was covered in black lines. What kind of Rising Stars List was this? It was pure fabrication, twisting the facts beyond recognition!

“Excuse me, may we sit here?” At some point, Murong Yueyin and the little girl Qiuyue appeared at Xin Lang’s table, trays in hand.

“Of course! I just finished eating—please, take my seat!” Fatty Gu stood up, dragging Qian Baidu along with him. As he left, he whispered to Xin Lang, “Boss, no need to thank me!”

Xin Lang really wanted to kick him across the room, but Fatty Gu beat a hasty retreat before he could react.

In his rush, Fatty Gu forgot his brand-new copy of the Academy’s “Rising Stars List” on the table.

Murong Yueyin casually picked up the booklet. After glancing at it, her brows drew together in a frown.

“Xin Lang, is what’s written here true? Did Hu Qingqing really spend the night in your dorm 2012?” Murong Yueyin asked seriously.

“Uh…” Xin Lang broke out in a cold sweat. “You believe that? It also says you’re chasing after me, and that yesterday you and Hu Qingqing fought over me here in the cafeteria! Are all those things true too?”

Murong Yueyin replied earnestly, “Yes! Those are true!”

“What?” Xin Lang was nearly floored by her words. “Miss Murong, jokes like this are dangerous! Someone could get killed—I don’t want to be hunted by those ranked on the Gold List!”

“Are you really afraid of them? I think you could deal with them with one finger,” Murong Yueyin said, staring into his eyes.

“Damn!” Xin Lang cursed inwardly. “She’s probing me again! Looks like women, just like petty men, are not to be easily offended—they really hold grudges!”

“Xin Lang!” Just as Xin Lang was pondering how to shake off Murong Yueyin, a shrill cry drew every eye in the cafeteria to the entrance.

Looking over, Xin Lang was startled to see Hu Qingqing striding toward him, her face thunderous.

Hu Qingqing slapped down a copy of the “Rising Stars List” in front of Xin Lang, snapping, “How could you go around spreading rumors about us?”

“Huh… What did I say?” Xin Lang’s head throbbed. Murong Yueyin hadn’t even left yet, and now another had arrived.

“What else? About me going to your dorm last night, obviously! If you didn’t say anything, how could it end up in the Rising Stars List?” Hu Qingqing’s pretty face was flushed with shame and anger, as if she’d suffered a grave injustice.

The students in the cafeteria gasped at her words. One said, “Damn, looks like everything in the Rising Stars List is true. Hu Qingqing really is having a secret affair with him!”

“Damn, this Xin Lang guy is unreal! He’s only been at the Academy two days and already bagged two school beauties—and even slept with one!” another exclaimed.

Murong Yueyin, shocked by Hu Qingqing’s words, asked, “You… you really went to his dorm?”

Only then did Hu Qingqing notice Murong Yueyin. Seeing her, Hu Qingqing’s faintly angry face blossomed into a look of smug triumph. “That’s right! I went to dorm 2012 last night!”

Murong Yueyin and Hu Qingqing had joined the Academy at the same time. For reasons unknown, from their very first day, the two had been at odds—competing for points, fighting over martial arts techniques. Now, with Murong Yueyin investigating Xin Lang, Hu Qingqing had come to stir things up, and the two were openly vying for his attention.

Puffing up with pride, Hu Qingqing admitted to her visit to dorm 2012, seizing the advantage.

Pressing her advantage, Hu Qingqing declared, “Murong Yueyin, I hereby announce that Xin Lang is my boyfriend! From now on, stay away from him, and stop trying to seduce him!”

“Hu Qingqing…” Murong Yueyin was left speechless by Hu Qingqing’s words. She wanted to argue but couldn’t reveal the truth, so she stamped her foot in frustration. “Hu Qingqing, I challenge you!”

“Fine!” Hu Qingqing accepted at once. “Whoever wins, Xin Lang will belong to her from now on!”

“Deal!”

The two locked eyes, the sparks between them palpable even to the onlookers.

C!
