The two were engaged in intense bargaining when three unfamiliar figures arrived at the market. They were Ye Yun and his two companions, who had been desperately searching for Yu Mu. As they strolled through the market, they inquired about Yu Mu’s whereabouts and gradually made their way toward the Wound Market. After several days of continuous travel, they too were weary and hoped to find a means of transportation.

From a distance, the trio spotted only a single Thousand-Mile Crane and decided not to approach it. Instead, their attention was drawn to a stall next to the crane’s, which was selling magical beast cubs.

At this remark, Ye Yun saw the two girls’ bright moods darken and quickly said, “Alright, alright, don’t be upset. I’ll listen to you both. We’ll stay here today so you can enjoy yourselves.”

Ye Yun then ceased disturbing the girls and sulkily approached the Thousand-Mile Crane.

Yu Mu was alarmed and hastily pulled a bamboo hat down to conceal his face. He took out some spirit crystals and handed them to the old, ailing man, signaling to finalize the deal.

The old man was surprised—these spirit crystals exceeded the minimum price he had set. Meanwhile, Yu Mu quickly pulled out a spatial pouch and stuffed it with feed.

“Hey, have you seen a short, slightly plump man, with an ordinary and somewhat foolish appearance?” Ye Yun slowly walked over and asked.

The sword’s edge landed on the attacker.

Yu Mu clutched his chest, blood seeping through his fingers. Fortunately, Ye Yun had attacked from a distance, so the wound was not severe.

But Yu Mu had no time to dwell on it. He saw An Shu and Mo Xiaomei coming to support Ye Yun, and noticed Ye Yun was about to break free from the bindings.

The sickly crane’s speed was decent but slower than a normal Thousand-Mile Crane. That slight difference in speed allowed Ye Yun’s group to steadily close the gap.

In a panic, Yu Mu suddenly slapped the crane’s body with both palms.

Two streams of pale green spiritual energy flowed from his hands into the bird. The crane, as if invigorated by a tonic, instantly became spirited and let out a long cry. Its speed surged, and it soon dashed beyond the town’s outskirts.

Outside the town lay a vast plain, ideal for the crane’s speed. Behind it, a trail of dust rose, and in moments, it had covered over ten miles.

The broad wings between the crane’s shoulders formed a wide saddle where Yu Mu sat, steering its path. Though fast, the bird’s gallop was remarkably steady. Yu Mu sat firmly, barely feeling any bumps.

At first, Ye Yun and the others barely kept pace with the crane. But soon, exhaustion set in, and they fell far behind until they vanished from sight.

The crane’s appearance had drastically changed since a few days ago. No longer weak and sickly, it now looked vigorous and muscular.
