Chapter 110: Who Kills Whom
This flower had no color.
If one were to insist on a hue, it would be the pitch-black center of its stamen, a shade distilled from the concentrated energy of the entire Path of the Other Shore, a blackness returned to its most primordial and absolute state.
Reincarnation and rebirth, two diametrically opposed energies, converged within it, bestowing upon it an elusive and unfathomable charm. A moment of inattention, and one’s spirit would sink into that mysterious power.
The void that had been carved out began to disintegrate. An Ruohuan and An Ruxiang descended slowly, their hands jointly cradling the flower formed by the fusion of Holy Words. Beneath their similar faces, their expressions were identical: a profound and icy hatred.
"Yes, that is the scent! I must eat it, let me eat it!"
Several pitch-black vines surged toward the group once more, only to be blocked by the radiance of the flower. Despite Manshushahua’s frantic attacks, they could not harm the group in the slightest.
Seeing her sister so heartbroken over a man, An Ruohuan immediately understood. When she looked at Manshushahua again, her killing intent had escalated into an unbreakable, life-or-death resolve.
"You once seduced me into merging with you, claiming it would save your life. I pitied you and agreed, but it seems you were always coveting the power of my Higanbana. If not for my sister, I would still be in the dark. But now, you have killed my brother-in-law, the man my sister loves. Manshushahua, today, either you die or I do!"
An Ruxiang blushed at her sister's use of the term "brother-in-law," but as they landed before Mu You, who had turned a ghastly black, that shyness was replaced by fury. Mu You could no longer be described as merely gravely wounded; a massive hole occupied his right chest,貫穿 nearly the entire cavity. His body was saturated with death aura, lying limp and motionless on the ground. His expression was frozen, unable to even emit a moan of pain.
At this moment, Mu You was in the most critical condition he had faced since entering the Death Row Paradise.
"Tsk, tsk. It seems that in a moment of carelessness, I killed the most important person among you. Heh, don't worry, you will all accompany him. Immediately, right now!"
Seeing their expressions shift, Manshushahua lamented her own clumsiness and attacked the two women with even greater impatience.
The "Higan Boruo" shimmered with biting, cold light, clashing against the sky full of black vines. An Ruxiang was desperate for Mu You’s life, but her ability was to heal the flesh, and her sister’s to restore the soul—both had hypnotic effects, but neither was suited for offense. Even with the fused Holy Words, they could only defend, not kill Manshushahua.
Manshushahua was not anxious; she continued her slow, deliberate assault, intent on wearing them down until they died.
"Sister, what do we do? He's dying." An Ruohuan could barely hear Mu You’s breathing, and a profound sense of dizziness and exhaustion began to surge from deep within her. The fused Holy Words were terrifyingly taxing.
An Ruxiang took one last, lingering look at Mu You, drew a deep breath, and said to An Ruohuan, "He ended up in this state because he saved us. I must save him, regardless of whether he lives or dies! Forgive me, Ruohuan..."
As she spoke, she moved to push An Ruohuan away from the battlefield, intending to shield Mu You with her own body and embed the "Higan Boruo" into his chest.
Suddenly, a large, powerful, and pitch-black hand grabbed An Ruxiang’s delicate wrist, halting her movement. The hand, reeking of death, belonged to Mu You.
"The resolve to die is important, but what is more important is... to trust your companions."
As Mu You spoke, two figures stepped in front of An Ruxiang: Jing Fei and Dian Shao.
"I trust you all the most. Even in a dead end, I, Mu You, will charge forward for my companions. Likewise, you must trust your companions; they will risk their lives to save you, just as you are doing for me now."
Earth-yellow and ghostly green lights flared brilliantly as Mu You spoke. The two men were pushing their abilities to the absolute limit.
"As long as my companions are by my side, there is no reason to abandon hope. Never!" Mu You’s voice was soft, yet it resonated with unwavering conviction.
"Lightning Flash: Photonic Great Explosion!"
"Abyssal Seal: Three Prison Stelae!"
Three pitch-black, jade-like stelae descended from the sky, trapping Manshushahua in a triangular formation. These stelae were forged from the rock that made up the layers of the eighteen levels of hell. They were incredibly sturdy; even though Jing Fei was overexerting himself to summon three, Manshushahua could not break them.
"The material of these stones..." Manshushahua had barely begun to realize their mystery when Dian Shao descended from above. With his body spread wide, a human-shaped wave of light blasted toward the struggling Manshushahua with destructive force.
This was the full-power strike of an A-rank peak death-row prisoner. Even an S-rank like Manshushahua found it difficult to endure. Her wails echoed across the area as the triangular shockwave surged into the high sky.
"Save him!"
"Save him!"
Jing Fei and Dian Shao roared simultaneously, for the subsequent tremors revealed that Manshushahua was truly, utterly enraged.
An Ruxiang and An Ruohuan did not hesitate. Both used their mouths to split the "Higan Boruo" in two, kissing Mu You’s muscular chest from both sides. His soul and body began to recover at a visible rate. He even began to absorb the infinite death aura, turning a misfortune into a blessing.
As Mu You’s hollow eyes regained their focus, he saw Dian Shao and Jing Fei being sent flying. Dian Shao was merely vomiting blood, but Jing Fei had fainted mid-air, losing consciousness entirely.
"Ants dare to hurt me? Dare to resist right under my nose? Today I will kill this boy once and for all, and let’s see what you do then!"
A furious Manshushahua screamed, her voice turning sharp and piercing. All her vines rose at once, striking toward the prone Mu You.
An Ruxiang and An Ruohuan immediately overlapped their bodies to shield Mu You, preparing to take the brunt of Manshushahua’s wrath.
However, two powerful arms suddenly pulled the two women tight. A blood-ink radiance erupted, and upon those hands, a Blazing Phoenix Heaven-Cleaving Slash, now fully transformed into the color of blood-ink, took shape.
Thanks to the massive amount of death aura provided by Manshushahua, Mu You was able to succeed—a feat he could not have achieved even with the recovery power of the fused Holy Words.
"That 'brother-in-law' sounded so sweet. As expected of sisters, you are both so beautiful, and so gentle when kissing."
A roguish, playful smirk followed. An Ruohuan, teased for the first time, bit him in her annoyance, causing Mu You’s smirk to crack in pain. An Ruxiang, however, finally let out a sigh of relief, tears of joy streaming down her face.
Feeling the warm liquid on his chest, Mu You’s heart warmed. As he looked at Manshushahua, a faint, pale-black lightning flickered on the edge of his Blazing Phoenix Heaven-Cleaving Slash, vanishing into the deep blood-ink almost instantly.
"Who is killing whom?" Mu You couldn't be bothered with more words. He unleashed the Blazing Phoenix Heaven-Cleaving Slash!
