Chapter 18: Are you still going to seduce me while we’re at work?
Gu Jinzhou looked at his reserved, conservative, and anti-marriage third brother with newfound respect.
“There’s a fifty percent chance of pregnancy.”
“This...” Gu Fengyan’s gentle and refined face visibly paled.
Gu Jinzhou’s thin lips curled into a smile like a sly fox harboring dark secrets. “If intercourse occurs during a woman’s fertile period, the chance of pregnancy is even higher.”
Gu Fengyan’s strong and steady frame wavered unsteadily.
Gu Jinzhou reached out to steady him. “Third brother, you’re only thirty-one this year; surely you’re not so old that you can’t stand firm.”
“I’m not old,” Gu Fengyan replied.
A glint of sharp intelligence flickered in Gu Jinzhou’s eyes. “Is the other party much younger than you?”
Gu Fengyan immediately regretted bringing up the topic with Gu Jinzhou. He felt as if his brother could guess even the color of his underwear that day!
“Jinzhou, I was just casually asking. By the way, do you know the most effective form of contraception?”
The moment he said this, he regretted it again.
After all the circling around, the conversation still ended up on pregnancy.
Gu Jinzhou stood with one hand in his pocket, his perfectly tailored and expensive black suit accentuating his tall, handsome, and noble bearing, exuding a dignified aura.
“At first, I didn’t know much. I bought many condoms, but eventually found that custom-made ones were more comfortable. Now, I’m on the contraceptive injection, which lasts for six months, so condoms are optional for me. But they’re convenient when I’m in the car or camping.”
Gu Fengyan felt his face turn yellow.
“Ahem, remember to send out these mooncakes to the family. I have something to attend to, so I’ll take my leave first!”
Gu Jinzhou called over his shoulder with a smile full of mischief, “Third brother, don’t feel burdened. Even if it’s a mixed-race baby, Uncle and Auntie will still be very happy.”
Gu Fengyan staggered.
She might not even get pregnant, right?
But if she did...
-
After handling a group of wealthy young ladies, Su Ruanruan returned to her bedroom to wash up.
Gu Jinzhou had promised to give her a massage, but after she washed her face, he was nowhere to be seen.
She draped a robe over her shoulders and stepped outside.
“Uncle Meng, have you seen Gu Jinzhou?”
“The young master went to the study.”
“So late, and he’s still working?”
“Yes, work is important, but health is too. Little miss, please persuade him.”
Su Ruanruan knocked on the study door and went straight in.
Gu Jinzhou was on the phone, his voice low and stern.
Ignoring everything, Su Ruanruan slipped into his arms. Gu Jinzhou’s eye twitched—she had been spoiled so much she no longer knew any boundaries, daring to climb into his arms at any time.
His fingers massaged her waist, gliding over her delicate skin, grasping the soft flesh he loved so dearly and squeezing it tenderly. His calm, deep voice continued the call without interruption.
Only after Gu Jinzhou hung up did he pinch Ruanruan’s waist and kiss her for several minutes, until tears welled in her eyes and he felt satisfied.
“Trying to seduce me while I’m working?”
“Yes! Yes!”
Su Ruanruan was nearly exasperated; clearly, he had poor self-control but insisted on blaming her for seduction. She wouldn’t even try to seduce a bear, let alone him!
Gu Jinzhou picked up the nightdress tossed on the sofa and helped her put it on.
Her skin was too tender—if he kissed any more, it would break. He couldn’t bear that.
“Baby, don’t be mad. Let’s go back to sleep.”
“Hehe, how could I dare to be mad at President Gu?”
After returning to the bedroom and washing up, Gu Jinzhou planned to slowly coax the angry Ruanruan, only to find her beaming, with not a trace of anger.
His eye twitched.
Su Ruanruan said, “Brother Jinzhou, let me dry your hair!”
Her soft little bottom settled on his legs, her warm, fragrant body pressed close to him. If he opened his mouth, he could taste that tender, smooth flesh he adored.
But no more kissing.
Gu Jinzhou wrapped his arms around her waist, eyes full of doting affection, allowing her to playfully mess about.
A few minutes later, Su Ruanruan ran her fingers through his short, spiky hair and cheerfully declared, “All dry!”
Gu Jinzhou was touched. “Thank you, baby. You worked hard.”
He always dried her hair, but today the little fairy Ruanruan took care of him. How could he not be moved?
Su Ruanruan placed her slender fingers on his strong shoulder, shy and coquettish, her eyes silky with charm. “Brother Jinzhou, do you dislike how I dried your hair since you haven’t kissed me?”
Gu Jinzhou’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Wrapped in the blanket, his restrained, measured voice betrayed his excitement: “Stop teasing me. If I really got aroused, I’d make baby feel so good she’d cling to me, and in the end, you’d be the one suffering.”
Su Ruanruan blinked. “You rolled me into a pancake, how can I seduce you? Let go quickly, this is uncomfortable.”
Gu Jinzhou held the rolled-up Ruanruan tenderly and sighed, “Let’s just sleep like this tonight. I’m afraid you’ll want me and climb on me in the middle of the night.”
Su Ruanruan glared at him. He said such shameless things all day—does his family know?
Just as she was drifting off, Su Ruanruan suddenly remembered something.
“Gu Jinzhou, are you planning to develop the land at Creekwater Bay?”
-
“There are several projects the company is handling now. I don’t have the time or energy to bid for Creekwater Bay.”
“Oh, that’s good...” Su Ruanruan faltered, then said hesitantly, “Gu Jinzhou, will you hate me...?”
Gu Jinzhou smiled silently. “I have never hated you. No matter how many mistakes you’ve made, I never could bring myself to hate you. I’m only grateful to fate for bringing you to me.”
After speaking, he glanced at the little one in his arms, who was already fast asleep.
She lived so carefree and lightheartedly; that was good. He hoped fresh flowers and smiles would always surround her, while he would bear all the hardships, suffering, and misfortune.
-
Morning.
Gu Jinzhou made coffee while wearing a Bluetooth headset.
“Mm, I won’t participate in the bid for Creekwater Bay.”
Hearing the keywords, Su Ruanruan quickly clutched her milk cup and ran over to “eavesdrop.”
Gu Jinzhou ruffled her small head and continued, “No reason.”
Su Ruanruan stood on tiptoe and kissed him. Wonderful! He had avoided the huge pitfall he fell into in his past life!
Gu Jinzhou’s tone suddenly turned stern. “Rong Xiu, if you like Creekwater Bay, then take it yourself.”
Who does he think he is, bossing others around in front of Gu Jinzhou?
Rong Xiu knew he’d overstepped and quickly apologized, “If you don’t want Creekwater Bay, can I have it?”
Gu Jinzhou: “Mm.”
Then he took off the Bluetooth headset.
Su Ruanruan gave a thumbs-up. “Gu Jinzhou, you’re amazing! Creekwater Bay isn’t a good place; you’re right not to want it!”
She seemed to have forgotten what she said last night.
Gu Jinzhou looked at her in confusion. “Ruanruan, how do you know Creekwater Bay isn’t a good place?”
Embarrassed, Su Ruanruan touched her face and quickly replied, “Just by the name—it doesn’t sound like a good place. You have to trust a woman’s sixth sense!”
Gu Jinzhou gave her a look she couldn’t understand.
“…Fine, I trust Ruanruan’s sixth sense.”
Relieved that she had successfully faked him out, Su Ruanruan breathed easy.
Within a month after construction began at Creekwater Bay, seven people died. The project was halted for two months, then resumed, only for two more to die. It was extremely ominous. If Rong Xiu wanted it, let him have it.
Today was Saturday, and Gu Jinzhou decided to take Su Ruanruan camping.
Su Ruanruan could hardly believe her ears. Although Gu Jinzhou treated her well, he was always busy with work and could only squeeze out time to accompany her, leaving her feeling guilty every time they went out. She never dared to ask to go out, fearing it would interfere with his business. This was one of the reasons she wanted to leave Gu Jinzhou in her past life.
