Chapter 13: A Sword That Brings the Immortal to His Knees!
Chapter 13: One Sword Makes the Immortal Kneel!
With the Dragon-Snake Sword in hand, the countless vines and branches scattered across the sky were no match for its sharp blade, severed in an instant beyond count.
“Roarrr!”
A piercing roar suddenly erupted. The nine-headed snake cypress seemed to go mad, its roots thrashing violently, shaking its entire massive form.
“Hey, are you crazy?”
Wu Yu hadn’t expected this. While transporting the Heavenly Heart Stone, he had sprinkled its powder liberally, hoping the nine-headed snake cypress would remain calm. But now it seemed this creature was ready to fight to the death!
“Ding!”
“The enraged nine-headed snake cypress refuses to let the host and companions leave the Ru Shang Royal Palace unscathed. Task issued: slay the nine-headed snake cypress and obtain its essence.”
“Reward: One Si Teng vine.”
“Damn, System, are you sure this is the Si Teng I’m thinking of?” Wu Yu asked, recalling that Si Teng was essentially a plant spirit!
Moreover, if it could take human form... could it be Da Tian Tian?
“Host, don’t forget how difficult it is for Si Teng to transform. It requires feeding on hundreds, even thousands, of spirits to reach that stage. At this point, the whole world can’t supply enough for you to raise it,” the System replied, seemingly aware of Wu Yu’s thoughts and dashing them.
“Fine, fine,” Wu Yu sighed, then looked to Third Uncle and said, “Third Uncle, get everyone up there quickly. Leave this to me and Little Brother.”
Since the decision was made to take down the nine-headed snake cypress, it was best for the others to get out of here promptly. This place was no longer safe for them.
“Be careful!” Wu Sanshu glanced at Wu Yu with concern, then pulled Wu Tianzhen upward swiftly.
Wu Yu then hooked a rope and kept clearing away the vines attacking from all sides—not because he refused to use lightness skills, but to conserve his internal energy.
This nine-headed snake cypress was far more formidable than the Blood Corpse King, rivaling even the Iron-Faced Corpse Lord.
“Swish, swish, swish!”
The vines thinned with each strike. The nine-headed snake cypress mobilized its roots, and thick, meter-wide branches rose from the ground to strike upward.
“Damn!”
Wu Yu cursed aloud at the sight. No wonder this nine-headed snake cypress had lived thousands of years—its roots were so massive that even a single jab or collision would be as devastating as a car speeding on a highway.
“Move faster!”
Wu Yu’s Dragon-Snake Sword emitted a faint azure glow. With a surge of internal energy, its power gradually unfolded.
But given the nine-headed snake cypress’s vast and intricate root system, it was nearly impossible to avoid using internal energy.
After Wu Tianzhen finally climbed up, Wu Yu no longer hesitated. He leapt up, hooking Third Uncle’s lowered rope with his toe and landing back on the ground. Seeing Little Brother unconscious but instinctively swinging his black-gold ancient blade to fend off the corpse locusts, Wu Yu sighed.
He knocked Little Brother out with a palm, tied the rope to himself, and signaled Third Uncle to pull him up.
Now, only Wu Yu and Little Brother remained beneath the tomb, naturally becoming the primary targets of the nine-headed snake cypress and the corpse locust king.
Meanwhile, a dozen or so blood corpses, slow in movement, had climbed the trees and seemed intent on confronting Third Uncle and the others.
“Damn! I should’ve brought more explosives!” the Fatty cursed, tugging on the rope furiously.
This lesson taught him well; from then on, whenever entering a tomb, Fatty always carried ample explosives.
“Nephew, hurry up and come up!” Third Uncle was shocked to see Wu Yu remain below after sending Little Brother up. “Quick! Lower another rope!”
The nine-headed snake cypress’s roots had now spread across the entire burial chamber, with countless corpse locusts climbing upward along them, already near the cave’s entrance.
“Damn it, where’s the oil? Throw down everything flammable!” Third Uncle said grimly.
“Got it!” Panzi quickly lit all combustible items and hurled them down. But the nine-headed snake cypress wasn’t about to let that happen—it began manipulating its roots to slowly block the cave entrance above.
Wu Yu was about to climb up, but the pit’s opening had shrunk so much that no one could pass through.
“Since you want me so badly, I’ll give you a big gift!” Wu Yu sneered. Everyone else was safely out, so destroying everything here was no loss.
Besides, this nine-headed snake cypress was his mission target!
With that thought, the Dragon-Snake Sword in his hand began to emit a crisp, chilling sword chant that sent shivers down one’s spine.
The onlookers outside couldn’t help but feel a chill; Wu Yu’s sword radiated with overwhelming sharpness!
His arm trembled slightly as sword energy howled forth. Within the tomb, countless sword shadows darted everywhere, cutting down all corpse locusts and snake cypress roots alike, leaving nothing unbroken.
But that was not all. At the peak of sword energy, the Dragon-Snake Sword blazed brilliantly, concentrating all power into a single inch at the blade’s tip.
“One sword… makes the immortal kneel!!!”
After much hesitation, Wu Yu unleashed this move.
Had the System not unlocked part of his power, he wouldn’t have dared. Though its strength was less than a thousandth of the original sword god Li’s, it was enough to handle the current threat.
The terrifying sword energy roared downward—inescapable, unstoppable. Once locked by the sword energy, fate was sealed.
Intertwined with flickers of firelight, the strike exploded violently like a volcanic eruption, sweeping across the entire mountain.
“Boom!!!”
The people atop the mountain were horrified, scrambling for cover as massive boulders and collapsing earth rumbled down.
“Damn, from now on this guy’s my godfather, my real godfather!” the Fatty whispered, gazing at Wu Yu’s silhouette.
Was this even humanly possible?
He didn’t know, but for the past thirty years, he had never seen anything like it—until today.
Another witness was A Ning. Having seen Wu Yu’s terrifying display, she was dumbfounded. It was as unbelievable as when her boss talked about immortality.
“Not human!” she muttered.
At the same time, she resolved to recruit Wu Yu at any cost, convinced that dragging him into the company was imperative.
After more than ten minutes, the trembling mountain finally stilled.
Everyone cautiously peeked out, stunned once more.
What had been a mere two-meter-wide pit had transformed into a massive chasm at least fifty or sixty meters wide, a deep ravine now before them.
