Chapter 7: Wu Yu's Cursed Eyes
As expected, Wu Sansheng arrived shortly after Xiaoge. He scanned his surroundings vigilantly, seemingly confirming that there was nothing unusual before jumping down.
However, the moment he drew near, he began to sway unsteadily as if he were drunk.
"Is it that fox?" Wu Yu wondered, a thought crossing his mind.
Xiaoge was immune to such things; his Qilin blood was the natural nemesis of all crooked and evil arts. As for Wu Yu, the surging sword energy within his own body made it impossible for such things to interfere with him, so he simply ignored it.
But Wu Sansheng was an ordinary man, and the Green-Eyed Fox finally felt a sense of satisfaction. Good heavens, it had been disregarded time and time again; it was simply too much for it to bear.
It was impossible to tell what kind of illusions Wu Sansheng was experiencing, but he suddenly threw his head back and laughed, his expression twisted and ferocious. Just as Wu Yu was about to intervene to save him, he saw his third uncle pull out a dagger and plunge it into his own palm.
The intense pain brought him to his senses instantly. He quickly retreated from the two corpses, dug an ointment out of his pocket, and applied it to both his temples.
"Whew... almost fell for it!" The third uncle panted, quickly bandaging his hand and making sure to clean up the blood on the ground.
Afterward, he took out special tools and opened the purple jade box directly. His brows furrowed slightly upon seeing the contents, but he ultimately took the bronze fish with snake-like eyebrows and made a quick departure.
"One after another, they are all old foxes," Wu Yu murmured to himself after witnessing everything.
"Ah! Right! Check-in, System!"
He slapped his forehead; he had almost forgotten the most important purpose of his trip.
"Ding!"
"Check-in at King Lu Shang’s Palace successful. Obtained sword technique inheritance: Two Sleeves of Green Snakes!"
In an instant, a massive wave of memories flooded into his mind. Even though this was not his first time receiving an inheritance, Wu Yu still felt dizzy and lightheaded. Fortunately, he had been prepared; he sat directly on the ground, leaning against the wall, and only breathed a sigh of relief after a long while.
"Two Sleeves of Green Snakes" was the signature technique of the legendary Old Sword God!
It was not a single sword move, but a distillation of complexity into simplicity, born from the Old Sword God’s mastery of almost every sword style in the world.
Therefore, to successfully execute "Two Sleeves of Green Snakes," one had to be intimately familiar with hundreds of different sword styles. Only then could the power of this technique be unleashed. Otherwise, the move would not harm the enemy, but oneself.
The wonder of this technique lay in the fact that the Old Sword God had imbued it with a sense of "spirit." If one could not control it with ease, the one to suffer would be the user!
Although it was a sword technique, it was a "living" one.
This was the essence of "Two Sleeves of Green Snakes."
"Whew, truly worthy of the man who said 'the sword path is like a long night for eternity.' This level of insight is terrifying!" Taking a deep breath, Wu Yu stood up.
"System, I need to become stronger faster!"
"Host, you are already strong enough. Though you lack endurance, even Xiaoge might not be able to withstand one of your strikes."
"Signing in at the Eleventh Warehouse for all those years was primarily to help you recuperate, ensuring that the power of the curse within you would not flare up and affect your condition. Otherwise, you might not have been able to withstand the terrifying tearing force brought about by the Two-Petaled Lotus of Mutual Generation."
"But... that is still far from enough!" Wu Yu inhaled deeply.
"The system can release a small amount of power to suppress your curse, but doing so will cause the curse to erupt. And because your bloodline is pure, even if you are ten thousand miles away, you will be affected by the Queen of Jingjue. Are you sure you want to do this?"
"I am sure!" Wu Yu nodded. "As long as I find the Muchen Bead quickly, everything will be fine, right?"
"Very well. Host, please prepare yourself."
No sooner had the words been spoken than a terrifying aura erupted from within Wu Yu. Blood began to seep slowly from every pore; at this moment, he looked more like a blood-corpse than a man.
A force slowly coursed through his limbs and bones, eventually forming eerie patterns upon his back. Enduring the intense pain, Wu Yu felt as if he could see the legendary Queen of Jingjue in his mind!
Dressed in magnificent attire, she walked slowly toward the throne upon the high platform. Every step felt as if it were landing on his own heartbeat—dull, oppressive, and enough to make him forget how to breathe.
"Little brother? Little brother, are you alright?"
The next second, a bottle of water was poured directly onto his face.
When Wu Yu opened his eyes, Wu Tianzhen, his third uncle, and the others were already gathered around him.
"I... are you all alright?" Wu Yu felt as exhausted as if he had just recovered from a long illness.
"We're fine!" Wu Sansheng said. "Second nephew, how are you? What on earth happened? You're covered in blood; you scared us to death!"
"That's right, little brother. I thought you had turned into a blood-corpse. Fortunately, Xiaoge said you hadn't!" Wu Tianzhen nodded.
"Whew... it's nothing." Wu Yu shook his head. "I exhausted too much internal energy. After escaping the encirclement of the corpse-beetles, I wanted to find a place to quickly recover, but I was careless and a mishap occurred during my meditation. Fortunately, I stopped in time."
"You scared me." Tianzhen patted his chest upon hearing this. "Get some good rest; our trip here is almost over."
"Oh? Is this the final main burial chamber?" Wu Yu asked curiously as he slowly stood up.
"What the heck, what is that!"
A voice filled with terror came from behind him. Wu Yu turned around instinctively, only to see a fatty pointing at him in panic.
"Who are you..." Wu Yu knew exactly who this was, but he could only pretend to be ignorant as he looked at the others with confusion.
At that moment, he noticed that the people around him were all staring at him in astonishment, as if there were something strange about him.
He looked at himself instinctively. His zither case was nearby, and he seemed fine, though he had discarded his blood-soaked clothes and was now bare-chested.
"Little brother, what is that on your back?"
Wu Tianzhen looked at him, bewildered. "Is that... an eye?"
"An eye???" Wu Yu was stunned for a moment, but he quickly understood what Wu Tianzhen was talking about. However, he could not see behind himself.
Seeing this, the fatty hurriedly took out his phone, snapped a picture, and handed it to Wu Yu. "I'm telling you, brother, what is this? It doesn't look like a tattoo, and that eye looks alive! It makes people feel inexplicably panicked just by looking at it!"
Yes, the fatty was right. Just now, as Wu Yu stood up, the eye had indeed seemed to blink. However, because the fatty had been behind him, no one else had seen it.
"It's... a condition," Wu Yu joked. "Doesn't everyone have a phase where they're a bit eccentric?"
He found one of Wu Tianzhen’s outer garments and put it on to cover the strange mark on his back before asking, "So, what do we do next?"
"We're planning to take this box!" Wu Tianzhen pointed at the boxes on the two corpses not far ahead.
"How about it, little brother? Are you afraid? Why don't you give it a try?"
Clearly, Wu Tianzhen and the others had fallen into the Green-Eyed Fox's illusion and had only just recovered.
And he had only been found because the fatty had stumbled upon him by chance in a cave around the corner while trapped in the illusion.
Understanding all of this, Wu Yu looked at the Green-Eyed Fox thoughtfully. "Fine. Knowing that the illusion is ineffective against me, it still won't give up and plans to kill with a borrowed knife!"
"What's difficult about that!" Wu Yu smiled, then strode forward.
