Chapter 9: Haven't We Met Somewhere Before?
Dongfang She broke into a cold sweat. “What’s your mommy’s name?”
“My mommy said I can’t tell strangers her name.” Fire immediately covered his mouth mischievously, a gesture that amused Dongfang She. He laughed heartily, his smile bright and dazzling.
This little scene drew many curious glances. The lobby manager, recognizing Dongfang She, quickly stepped over to mediate.
“Whose child is this?” the manager asked, his eyes resting on the adorable little one. Then, in disbelief, he wondered when the young master Dongfang had grown such a big boy.
“Oh, it’s the young master Dongfang! I’m so sorry for the disturbance. Please continue your meal, everyone. We apologize for the inconvenience...” There was no point in watching—when this father and son caused a scene, us common folk just tried to stay as far away as possible.
Dongfang She narrowed his eyes dangerously, exuding a domineering aura. “Are you my offspring?”
Fire was speechless.
The lobby manager was also at a loss for words.
“Fire?”
At that moment, a sultry voice called out. Fire shivered and swiftly pulled away from Dongfang She’s presence.
“What happened? Fire, are you hurt?”
The woman grabbed the child and checked him thoroughly from head to toe. Aside from a small scrape on his arm, there were no other injuries, so she finally relaxed.
That voice... Dongfang She frowned, the familiarity nagging at him like a distant echo. Had he heard it somewhere before?
“Auntie,” the little one in her arms pinched her waist gently. “I’m fine. I accidentally bumped into someone. Auntie, let’s go, my clothes are dirty.”
Auntie? →_→
Yu Jin’s eyes twitched ever so slightly. The little one was really showing her respect—should she take the chance to call him “Darling”?
Fire jumped out of her arms, and only then did Yu Jin notice three people nearby staring curiously at her.
With great righteousness, she raised her head, ready to defend the child’s honor, but her composed expression instantly faltered when she recognized the visitor.
Dongfang She?!
Heavens! What a coincidence!
Dongfang She’s tall, imposing figure carried an innate sense of dominance. Yu Jin felt like a guilty kitten, lowering her head and avoiding his gaze, her heart pounding wildly. “I’m sorry, my nephew caused trouble for everyone.”
The man’s sharp eyes, like a crouching leopard, lazily and dangerously locked onto her. This woman... why did she feel so familiar?
Soft black curls, fair delicate features, and a statuesque figure—she was clearly a great beauty, far surpassing the top socialites of G City.
Strange. If she was familiar, why couldn’t he recall her at all?
Mu Keqing frowned deeply as she watched the woman before her, gripping Dongfang She tightly. A primal sense of danger told her this person was no friend.
“Have we met somewhere before?” Dongfang She racked his brains. This silhouette was far too familiar, yet he simply couldn’t place it.
Yu Jin paused, feeling a bit disappointed. As the little one had said, he really didn’t remember her. Sigh, he had too many women, and back then she was too inexperienced—he wouldn’t have bothered remembering even the slightest bit.
But then she thought, maybe it was better that way!
If he found out she was the little star who had once caused him to lose everything and left behind a precious heir, he would make sure she never saw the light of day again!
“No, sir, you have a remarkable presence. If we had met, I would surely remember,” Yu Jin said, her head bowed, her tone neither humble nor arrogant. Though her words pleased Dongfang She’s vanity greatly, they failed to solve his mystery.
